Ruby Bridges Hall made history in 1960 by integrating an all-white New Orleans school at age 6.

In 1960, her parents responded to a call from the NAACP and volunteered her to participate in the integration of the New Orleans School system. She is known as the first African-American child to attend William Frantz Elementary School, and the first African-American child to attend an all-white school in the South. (Wikipedia)

Her picture has been compared with little Sasha Obama's first day of school as each represent first days of change. Bridges' was the first day of integration while Obama's--the first day of the rest of our lives. So powerful!
